Wave 1

The journey of 1000 wave paintings starts with one.  I painted this at Lobster Cove, Monhegan Island, Maine after watching the movement of the waves.  As I headed out to paint that day, I told a friend that I was in search of the 'ultimate wave'.  He offered some helpful suggestions:  Watch the waves;  draw the wave action;  turn your back on the water and paint from your drawing.  Use the water to inform the color and the energy of the waves.  This little painting is the result of that day's efforts.
