Dear Friends,

I am pleased to invite you to enjoy the work that has been keeping me busy these past few months. New paintings will be on display in a show: Mother Earth - Sister Moon in the Back Gallery of the Rock and Art Shop from April 3 - 23. The show opening is Friday April 7 from 5:00-7:00. I hope you can stop by. The Rock and Art Shop is located at 36 Central St in Downtown Bangor.

The paintings and drawings were inspired by my experiences with the natural and the nocturnal world. The Full Moon Rising series, completed mostly in pastels, was created between June and November 2016 on-site in New Mexico and Maine. From the stillness of the New Mexico desert in June, to moon rise during a waterfront concert in Bangor in August (Jimmy Buffett), to the supermoon rise over Blue Hill and Bucksport in November, the series tells a diverse story of our activities within the cycles of time.

New works can also be seen on my web site (Kaycarterpaints.com). Click the link to 'recent work' under the 'Paintings' heading. I have worked more in my studio than outside this winter, unlike past years. A warm (and sometimes organized) place to paint has been a delight. It has given me the opportunity to push into more abstract forms in my painting, often inspired by textures and shapes seen in nature.
