Bear Cove fog

This little painting was completed at Bear Cove, Petite Manan peninsula in Stuben, Maine.  We spent a week there in early September, in a small cabin by the water.  Most days were socked in by fog.  The morning which I painted this, I had hiked out to Bear Cove, a beautiful cove on land owned by the Petite Manan National Wildlife Refuge.  During the time that I painted, the fog rolled in and then out, changing the light and the view.  Most of the time there was a soft pink/purple hue to the light, giving the near ground and especially the golden rod which was in full bloom, a rich vibrant color.
