Acadia National Park in the fall and winter offers magnificent painting opportunities.  With few visitors present, the venues which are often filled with folks enjoying the summer are quiet during these seasons.  Yesterday was no exception, except for the wind!  With three other artist friends I went to Jordan Pond to paint, hoping that the trees would give shelter from the wind.  They did - occasionally!  The light played on the reds and golds in the field leading to Jordan Pond, while The Bubbles provided an excellent back drop, bounding the dark purple/green/blue changing waters of the pond. 

Except when the wind took my paint pallet for a ride, the elements were our friends.  The air was crisp, the sun was mellow and low on the horizon, and we were all toasty warm in layers of winter weather gear.  A day of painting is always good.  A day with good friends, painting at Acadia is exceptional.

Paintings for Peace

Starting with the November 15 Art Walk in Bangor and running until December 23, I will be displaying my artwork at the Peace and Justice Center of Eastern Maine, 96 Harlow St, Bangor.  The paintings will be for sale with 50% of the proceeds going to the Center.  In addition, the proceeds from any sales thru my web site (www.KayCarterPaints.com) during the same period will be shared with the Peace and Justice Center.

During the past few years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to paint throughout Maine.  My work is a celebration of the environment in which we live and the challenge to all of us to work for environmental sustainability in all that we do.  I am pleased to offer these paintings as a fund-raiser for the Peace and Justice Center.

Feel free to stop by the Center during the Art Walk (Friday, November 15 from 5:00-9:00) or any time the Center is open, look at the paintings, and consider supporting the Peace and Justice Center thru a purchase.  The Center is staffed part-time and generally is open from 11:00-3:00 Monday thru Friday, but other times can be arranged.  To be sure the Center is open or to arrange a more convenient time to stop and see the artwork, call 942-9343.  Leave a message for staff or for me, if you get a recording.
